The Yugoslav Final was held on March 7th at the Sava Centre in Belgrade, hosted by Dubravka Miloševic. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 8 regional juries.

Novi Fosili previously took part in the Yugoslav Finals of 1981 (2nd), 1982 (4th=), 1983 (2nd) and 1986 (2nd). At the ESC they came 4th. Tereza Kesovija represented Monaco in ESC 1966 & Yugoslavia in 1972. Daniel represented Yugoslavia in ESC 1983 while Seid Memic-Vajta did the same in 1981.
