The UK Final was held on February 24th at the BBC TV Studios in London, hosted by Cilla Black. All the songs were performed by Cliff Richard, and the winner was chosen by postcard voting, with the result being announced on March 3rd.

Cliff Richard had already represented the UK in 1968. At the ESC he came 3rd.
