The Semifinals
The Swedish Semi-Finals were all hosted by Lena Philipsson who represented Sweden in ESC 2004. In the first 4 semi-finals there were two rounds of televoting – the first to select the top 5 and the second to select the top 2 songs to qualify directly for the final and the 3rd and 4th placed songs that went forward to the 5th semi-final. In the 5th semi-final the televoting was in two rounds – the first to select the top 5 and the second to select the two qualifiers for the final.

- Anna Sahlene represented Estonia in the 2002 ESC and was a backing singer for Sweden in ESC 1999 and Malta in ESC 2000.
- Sonya was a backing singer for Lithuania in the 2005 ESC Semi-Final.
- Velvet (Jenny Petersson) was a backing singer for Greece in ESC 2001 and Sweden in ESC 2003, 2004 & 2005.
- Jessica Andersson represented Sweden in the 2003 ESC in the duo Fame.
- Kayo was a member of the group Afro-Dite who represented Sweden in the 2002 ESC.
- Roger Pontare represented Sweden in 1994 and 2000.
The Final

The Swedish Final was held at the Globe Theatre in Stockholm on March 18th, hosted by Lena Philipsson who represented Sweden in ESC 2004. The winner was chosen by a combination of televoting (50%) and regional juries (50%). Carola won the televote and Andreas Johnson was the favourite of the regional juries.

Carola previously represented Sweden in ESC 1983 & 1991, winning in 1991. She also came 2nd in the 1990 Swedish Final. At the ESC, she came 5th. Magnus Bäcklund represented Sweden in the 2003 ESC in the duo Fame. Kikki Danielsson represented Sweden in the 1982 ESC in the duo Chips and in 1985 on her own.
