The Swedish Final was held on February 25th at the Lisebergshallen in Gothenburg, hosted by Fredrik Belfrage. The 10 songs were reduced to 5 finalists, after which the winner was chosen by the votes of 9 juries, with each jury being split according to the age of its members.

The Herreys went on to win the 1984 ESC, where Lotta Pedersen was one of their backing singers. Elisabeth Andreasson represented Sweden in 1982 in the group Chips.
