The Spanish Final was held on February 7th at the TVE Studios in Barcelona, hosted by José Luis Barcelona and Irene Mur. In the 4 months before the final, 54 songs were selected and broadcast on the weekly TV show ‚Gran Parada‘. At the end of each month a semi-final was held with the top 2 songs going forward to the final. The 8 songs that qualified for the final in this way were songs 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 12 & 13 (the 8th song – „En un bello rincón“ was later disqualified). Spanish TV then added 6 other songs to the final. The winning song was chosen by a jury of 16 people (a mixture of „experts“ and TV viewers). In the voting, each juror awarded 1 point to all the songs except one. The song which gained the smallest amount of points was eliminated. This continued until there were only 2 songs left – each member of the jury then gave 1 point to their favourite of the two.
