The Slovene Final was held at the RTVSLO TV Studios in Ljubljana on February 18th, hosted by Sasa Gerdej. The winner was chosen by 12 regional juries.

Darja Svajger previously came 2nd in the 1993 Slovene Final. At the ESC, she was 7th. Oto Pestner represented Yugoslavia in ESC 1975 in the group ‚Pepel In Kri‘.
