The Romanian Final was held on March 14th at the Palatul Copiilor in Bucharest, hosted by Iuliana Marciuc Posea, Daniela Nane & Anca Turcasiu. All of the songs were presented as video clips which had been pre-recorded at the TVR TV studios. The winner was chosen by a combination of 4 regional juries, televoting & an „expert“ jury. Malina Olinescu came 2nd in the televote, behind Monica Anghel.

Monica Anghel represented Romania in the 1996 pre-selection but did not qualify for the Eurovision. Daniela Vladescu & Mariana Turcanu were backing singers for Romania in the 1994 ESC.
