Israeli National Final 1989

Gili & Galit

„The king’s road is for me the only road, the king’s harp is my song“

The Israeli final was held at the IBA studios in Jerusalem on March 30th, hosted by Moshe Beker & Shira Gera. The winning song was chosen by televoting, with members of the public being phoned at random and asked for their favourite song. These results were converted into votes for 6 regions of Israel.

Gili & Galit came 12th at the ESC. Milk & Honey won ESC 1979 although the female singer of the group in 1989 was Lea Lupatin rather than Gali Atari. Lea represented Israel in 1976 in the group Chocolate Menta Mastik. Avi Toldano represented Israel in ESC 1982.
