
The Irish Final was held at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on March 6th, hosted by Marty Whelan & Maxi who represented Ireland in ESC 1973. The winner was chosen by an „expert“ jury, one of whom was Sandy Kelly who was a member of the Duskeys that represented Ireland in ESC 1982.

The lead singer of Jump The Gun – Peter Eades – previously came 2nd in the 1979 Irish Final (in ‚The Miami Showband‘) & equal 5th in 1980. At the ESC, Jump The Gun were 8th.
