The Irish Final was held on March 13th at the University Concert Hall in Limerick, hosted by Pat Kenny. The winner was chosen by the votes of 10 regional juries.

Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan went on to win the ESC. Charlie McGettigan previously came 3rd in the 1984 & 1987 Irish Finals.
