The Irish Final was held at the Opera House in Cork on March 29th hosted by Pat Kenny. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 10 regional juries.

Linda Martin previously represented Ireland in ESC 1984. She also took part in the Irish Finals of 1976, 1977, 1978, 1982 (with the group Chips), 1984, 1986, 1989 & 1990. Linda went on to win ESC 1992. Luv Bug represented Ireland in ESC 1986.
