The Semifinals
The Finnish Semi-Finals were held at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki, hosted by Maria Guzenina & Bettina Sågbom. The top 6 songs in each semi-final (chosen by televoting) qualified for the final.

The Final
The Finnish Final was held on January 24th at Tampere Talo, hosted by Maria Guzenina, Bettina Sågbom & Antero Mertaranta. The winner was chosen in two rounds of voting – in the first round the top 6 were chosen by 6 regional juries and in the second round the winner was chosen by televoting.

Jari Sillanpää previously came 2nd in the 1998 Finnish Final. At the ESC Semi-Final he was 14th where Riikka was one of his backing singers. Riikka was also a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1996. Gary (Revel jr.) was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 2002.
