
The Finnish Final was held on February 10th at Kulttuuritalo in Helsinki, hosted by Marjatta Leppänen. The winner was chosen by the votes of a jury of 30 people – a mixture of „experts“ & members of the public.

Katri Helena previously came 2nd in the 1969, 1972 & 1978 Finnish Finals. At the ESC she was 14th. Markko Aro represented Finland in ESC 1971. Pepe Willberg was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1978.
