The Finnish Final was held on February 11th at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki, hosted by Jaakko Jahnukainen. The winning song was chosen by a panel of „experts“ in two rounds of voting. In the first round all 8 of the songs were voted on, and in the second round the top 3 songs were re-voted on.

Fredi came 12th equal at the Eurovision. Laila Kinnunen represented Finland in 1961, while Marion Rung did the same in 1962.
