The Dutch Final was due to be held on January 23rd at the Tivoli in Utrecht, however due to a strike by the musicians in the orchestra, the final was never broadcast. Instead, Annie Palmen sang all 3 songs for an „expert“ jury who picked the winner.

The song title was changed to „Een speeldoos“ (A musicbox) for the ESC where Annie Palmen came equal 13th. She previously took part in the 1960 Dutch Final.
