The Danish Final was held on February 28th at the Valencia-Varieteen in Copenhagen, hosted by Jørgen Mylius. The winning song was chosen by a jury consisting of members of the public.

Tommy Seebach previously represented Denmark in ESC 1979, where Debbie Cameron was one of his backing singers. Debbie was also a backing singer for Allan Mortensen & Jannie Høeg in the 1979 Danish Final. At the ESC, Tommy & Debbie came equal 11th.
