
The Austrian Final was held on March 14th at the ORF TV Studios in Vienna, hosted by Gabriela Dorschner & Gerry Friedle (aka DJ Ötzi). The winner was chosen by SMS voting and televoting, with the votes being split between male and female votes.

Alf Poier came 6th at the ESC. Petra Frey represented Austria in ESC 1994. Three of the other songs had previous Austrian ESC entrants amongst their backing singers – Stella Jones (ESC 1995) for the group Substitute, Bettina Soriat (ESC 1997) for Sabine Neibersch and Gary Lux (ESC 1983, 1985 & 1987) for the group J.O.B.
