The Austrian Final was held at the Nachtwerk nightclub in Vienna on March 8th, hosted by Alfons Haider. The winner was chosen by the votes of 9 regional juries.

At the Eurovision, Petra Frey came 17th. Simone represented Austria in 1990. Alex is the woman who Tony Wegas bites the leg of in the preview video for „Maria Magdalena“. Marc Berry represented Austria in 1980 in the group Blue Danube.
