The Finnish Semi-Finals were hosted by Heikki Paasonen & Jaana Pelkonen. The top 3 songs in each semi-final (chosen by televoting) qualified for the final.

Hanna-Riikka Siitonen was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1996 & 2004. She & Nina Tapio both went on to be backing singers for Geir Rönning at the ESC. Gary Revel jr. was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 2002.
The Final

The Finnish Final was held on February 19th at Tampere Talo hosted by Heikki Paasonen & Jaana Pelkonen. The winner was chosen in two rounds of voting – in the first round the top 6 were chosen by 6 regional juries and in the second round the winner was chosen by televoting.

Geir Rönning previously came 7th in the 1995 Norwegian Final, equal 2nd in 1996 & 7th in 1997. He also came 3rd in the 2002 Finnish Final and 5th in 2004. At the ESC Semi-Final he came 18th where one of his backing singers was Charles Salter who was a dancer for Finland in ESC 1994.
