The Swedish Final was held on March 14th at Malmö Musikteater, hosted by Pernilla Månsson & Magnus Karlsson. The winner was chosen by 11 regional juries in two rounds of voting – the first to select the top 5 and the second to select the winner.

Jill Johnson came 10th at the ESC. Elisabeth Melander was a backing singer for Sweden at ESC 1991 & 1995 and for Malta at ESC 1992. Nanne Grönvall represented Sweden at ESC 1996 in the group „One More Time“.
