The Swiss Final was held on January 18th at the DRS TV Studios in Zürich. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 3 regional juries, a press jury and a jury of „experts“.

Carole Vinci previously came 4th equal in the 1977 Swiss Final. At the Eurovision she was 9th equal. Piera Martell represented Switzerland in 1974.
